A couple of club members had been mulling over various ideas about how to reach out to youth but they never really discussed it in-depth.
Some generous friends of Scott and Terri Webb reached out to them all the way from California to Iowa with a $500 gift with the understanding that it be used to "keep the kids shooting". Terri mentioned it during a meeting and things just kind of snowballed from there and turned into the most amazing event. THANK YOU to Denny and Sue!
The first year in 2024 we held 2 separate workshop days. Throughout the day the kids moved from station to station and we had instructors and different activities at each station. Upon arrival in the morning a continental breakfast was served, t-shirts given out, folders full of information passed around, groups assigned and sorted. Followed by the National Anthem and then the fun really began. Lunch was also provided and by the end of the day the kids were having a ball of fun. We regrouped and passed out even more items for them to take home. The first group each got a fishing pole and stickers, and the second group each got a bug catching kit, flashlight and stickers.
